Stefan Straub
Boy Wonder!
| I've received so many good pictures lately
that I've decided to section out the Readers Gallery to individual
pages. Here are some of the newest pictures of Stefan Straub, fresh
from his December 2003 Milo appearance for closing the Ironmind #3
gripper. Stefan is one of the youngest ever to have closed the #3 gripper,
and the youngest in Canada (16-years old). Stefan's #3 close didn't appear in
Milo, but there's plenty of room on Bigsteel for this type of picture! |

Stefan Straub with #3 gripper and sledgehammer
|
Just to show that he has complete mastery of the
#3
gripper here is Stefan levering an 8-pound hammer in his left hand and
closing the number-3 in his right. |

| Stefan also sent a picture of the Ironmind blue bar (6"x1/4"
cold-rolled steel) that he bent unbraced, along with a 10"x5/16"
spiral nail that he bent, however, both bends seem rather trivial compared
to the 3/8"x12" rod pictured to the right. Stefan reports
that he did this bend braced (of course!). I have found that the
steel in these rods can vary considerably, and that they are generally
softer than the infamous 3/8"x12" spikes, still, this is a very
good bend and there are obviously great things in the future for Stefan as
he gets bigger and stronger. |

Stefan ripping a deck of cards in half
|
This picture illustrates
Stefan's card tearing technique. There are certainly are many
ways to perform feats of strength, this technique looks totally
different from the way I rip a deck of cards in half (which I
haven't even done for a very long time). |

| And finally, the engine behind all of
the work above. A very big muscular forearm for a 16-year
old. Stefan also reports that he can get the #4 gripper to parallel
and can do quite a few reps on the #3- I'll wait to see his
upcoming video on this to disclose the number (a very impressive
number of reps). |
