Marc Randulich

This is Marc Randulich of Chicago Illinois.  Marc's story is similar to many in the "grip world" in that he has been a serious weight lifter for about 8-years, but that the heavy lifting took a toll on his body.   As experienced by many others, doing grip training has enabled Marc to continue hoisting the Iron and enjoying the Irongame as he cuts back a little on his other weight training.

Today in the Reader's Gallery we have on tap the "new classic" feat of bursting a soda can, Pepsi, to be exact.

Marc before the crush

Marc's best with the soda cans is six to eight in a minute, and his goal is to ultimately do a complete twelve pack.

The picture to the left shows Marc's technique for bursting the can.

Like many others Marc originally got into the grip game when someone brought to work a COC #2 gripper.  After some hard training Marc can now rep the #2 for about 8-10 reps and believes he can become a Certified Capain of Crush this year.  Marc can also close a Robert Baraban 240 gripper (stronger than a #2).  In addition to grippers, Marc also trains with block weights and does finger curls.

As with many grip trainers Marc has discovered that the feats of the old time strongmen were grip dependent and found he could "destroy" a phone book and playing cards with his bare hands.  Along with the feats listed above Marc also does nail bending and has ripped license plates in half.

And finally, the end result, a little messy, and this is only one can.

I'd like to thank Marc for the pictures.  Can bursting is something I've never tried so it's good to have these pictures on Bigsteel.

           Here is the end result
